Four students from Iona Presentation College in Mosman Park recently represented Western Australia at the 2026 Future Problem Solving Australia National Finals in Victoria.
The Finals were held at Caulfield Grammar School from Friday 16 October to Sunday 18 October 2026.
Competing in the Global Issues competition, students were asked to research a series of global topics and learn a six-step creative problem solving process. Participants apply their knowledge and the six-step problem solving process to address an imagined situation in the future.
Exploring complex global issues, students are encouraged to think beyond traditional boundaries, work collaboratively and consider how their ideas can help shape a better future.
Reaching the National Finals is a reflection of the students’ dedication, teamwork and willingness to embrace new challenges.
The College’s Director of the Junior School, Mrs Zappara, accompanied the students on the trip and said:
‘We are incredibly proud of the way our students embraced this opportunity, challenged themselves and represented both Iona and Western Australia on the national stage.
‘At Iona, we encourage our students to be curious, courageous thinkers who use their gifts and talents to make a meaningful difference. These students have demonstrated those qualities beautifully.’
For the students the experience extended well beyond the competition:
‘The highlight of the weekend was meeting students from all around Australia, sharing our passion for problem solving and having the incredible opportunity to represent both Iona and Western Australia at a national level. It was an experience we will never forget!’
