ViSN is tops! Distance learners achieve top scores

Catholic Education WA’s Virtual Schools Network (ViSN) program provides students with exceptional learning experiences and opportunities to excel in their academic pursuit.

Last year, eleven ViSN students achieved an ATAR score above 90, with 10 students receiving prestigious awards.

Awards handed out to high achievers included Certificates of Merit, Distinction, Subject Certification of Excellence and General Exhibitions.

Completing her program in Psychology, Emily Laurance (John XXIII College) earned an ATAR of 98.75, taking home all three awards. Zachary Bowles (St Joseph’s School) was another high achiever, receiving a Certificate of Distinction and the second highest ATAR for ViSN students at 99.15. Completing Mathematics Specialist through ViSN, his achievement highlights the excellence of the ViSN program in offering advanced subjects and fostering academic excellence.

“I loved exploring different forms of learning from PowerPoints, Teams calls, videos and self-directed research. My educators were so fun and encouraging and they made me feel comfortable to ask questions.”

Psychology student Genevieve Moody (John XXIII College), who scored a 98.75 ATAR, said ViSN provided her with a quality education and an opportunity to learn skills beyond the classroom.

“I was able to connect with students from different schools and teachers with new learning techniques designed especially for online learning.

“I loved exploring different forms of learning from PowerPoints, Teams calls, videos and self-directed research. My educators were so fun and encouraging and they made me feel comfortable to ask questions. As a result, I became more motivated to complete my work.

“I always felt prepared, organised, and supported by my ViSN teacher. I would highly recommend any student to complete ATAR subjects through ViSN as it provides so many lessons and learning opportunities beyond the textbook!”

The flexibility of options available through ViSN provides students with better accessibility to a variety of subjects with entry points at the beginning of Year 11, mid-Year 11 and an intensive course in Year 12.
