One year on – Liverpool FC International Academy partnership with Irene McCormack going strong

One year on from the launch of a new partnership between Irene McCormack Catholic College and Liverpool FC International Academy, more students are benefitting from the opportunity to participate in a high-performance, co-curricular soccer development program.

The programme has contributed to a growth in enrolments at the college with more families experiencing the quality, faith-based education on offer at Irene McCormack Catholic College.

Principal, Andrew Billingsley said:
“This past year has been an exceptional one for the Liverpool FC Academy at Irene McCormack Catholic College. A standout moment was welcoming more than 200 families to our Community Day. We’re excited to build on that success and look forward to an equally strong turnout at our next Community Day in May.

“The program has helped position our College as a school committed to excellence in both sport and learning. It has opened doors for students who may not have previously envisioned themselves on an elite sporting pathway. We’ve also welcomed many new enrolments directly linked to our partnership with LFC IA, and we look forward to continuing that growth in the years ahead.”

Looking ahead, the College is committed to expanding the program, strengthening pathways, and deepening our partnership to ensure students have access to high quality coaching and meaningful sporting experiences.

“This year, we’re exploring how the partnership can support not only new enrolments but also retention into Years 11 and 12. As a Liverpool IA partnership school, our students can undertake free Micro Credentials through the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE).

“We are working with Liverpool to become a pilot school, allowing students to begin these Micro Credentials in Year 10 (Semester Two) and complete them in Year 11 or 12. These qualifications come at no cost to enrolled students and can be credited as one unit toward an online undergraduate degree.”

Year 9 student, Casey said:
“I really like being in the Liverpool FC IA Program because the training is fun but also pushes me to get better. We learn the same skills and strategy that Liverpool FC players use, and the coaches help us understand how to play smarter.”
