Year 3 to 6 students from St Joseph’s School in Boulder have crated a new mosaic mural which has won the group category at the Charism Art Exhibition.
The new mural has taken pride of place in the School’s grotto.
The artwork reflects the school’s vision of faith, kindness and respect, and honours the Josephite spirit inspired by Saint Mary MacKillop’s words, “never see a need without doing something about it”.
The student-led project was guided by art teacher Chantal and supported by the Goldfields Catholic Parish.
Sienna said:
“Making the mosaic and placing all the pieces correctly was really hard because we to make sure every piece fitted perfectly but in the end it turned into a masterpiece.”
Nyingdruk added:
“I love how in our Respect Mosaic piece it shows our diversity and all the amazing cultures that we have around our school.”
“We gathered ideas, designs, symbols and pictures to represent our school,” said Braxton.
“We smashed tiles and fit them into square layouts like tetris. We used grout and resin because it makes the mural pop out and stick together,” said Argyle.
St Joseph’s Principal, Tanya Stafford said:
“This mural is more than just art — it’s a living expression of who we are as a Josephite community.
“Our students have shown how faith and service can come alive through collaboration and creativity.”
