Students at Ursula Frayne lead Praise & Worship Workshop

Two Year 12 students of Ursula Frayne Catholic College have shared their experience in pioneering a praise and worship project in their final term of school this year.

Student leaders Raymond Yong and Mark de Silva, with the help and support of one of the school’s religion teachers, Mr. Joshua Stock, lead praise and worship sessions twice a week during recess at school.

After seeing the impact and effect that similar sessions have at youth events, some of which were run by friends of theirs, Raymond and Mark felt inspired and excited about sharing the experience with students at their school.

“We enjoyed every moment of it and were ecstatic to be leading it with the support of our friends, Amelie Ho and Stephanie Valenti”, said Mark.

Raymond and Mark would play Christian songs with prayer and reflections in between. They would relate the reflections and songs to their lives, and in doing so allowed students to share in the meaning and purpose of the songs that were chosen.

Students who attended the sessions found them particularly valuable to share in amongst the busyness of school days.

“Praise and worship is a really wonderful time to spend with God amongst the busyness of school and life, praising God with others makes me feel centred and at peace, ready to face challenges and opportunities that come my way,” said fellow student Amelie Ho.

Well done to both Mark and Raymond for initiating such a valuable project during their final year of school.
