St Kieran Catholic Primary School student, Joanne has triumphed in this year’s Education Minister’s Running Challenge.
Joanne won in the Primary Student (Mobility) Category, and was awarded a trophy and gift for kids voucher for her efforts.
Catholic Education WA Executive Director, Annette Morey congratulated Joanne saying:
“I was proud to attend the awards presentation for the Minister’s Running Challenge and to be able to congratulate Joanne on her achievement. It is always encouraging to see our students get involved in activities which boost their wellbeing and give them opportunities to achieve the goals they have set themselves.”
Established in 2023, the challenge encourages students to run regularly, helps students develop a love for physical exercise, and aims to improve health and fitness levels.
To complete the challenge, primary school students were required to run, walk, wheel, cycle or scooter for a total of 200 minutes over nine weeks. Secondary school students and staff needed to complete a total of 300 minutes throughout the challenge.
Joanne said:
“My favourite part was getting out and walking.”
This year’s Challenge saw almost 5,000 registered participants log around 53,000 activities and 2.1 million minutes of movement.
