St John Bosco farewell inaugural Year 12s

St John Bosco College’s Year 12 class of 2025 have become the first ever graduating cohort at the College.

The 83 students are the first group to have grown through every stage of the College community — from the early days of Year 7, right through to graduation. In many ways, their story is also the story of the college itself: a story of growth, of finding identity, and of learning what it means to belong.

The Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 College in Piara Waters was opened in 2015.

St John Bosco College Principal, Kevin Sheehy said:

“In our Foundation year in 2015, thirteen of our Year 12 Graduates were in Year 2, experiencing ‘joy in learning’ as the most senior students at the College and we are delighted that many more students have joined them on the joyful journey over the years.

“As a Bosco Community, we are very proud of our Year 12 Graduates, and we cannot wait to hear about the incredible things they will achieve in life. We hope that they will be filled with the joy of St John Bosco so our Bosco Graduates will continue to use their gifts for the service of others.”

“This marks a significant milestone in the lives of our Bosco students, filled with pride, reflection, and hope for the future. It is an honour to celebrate the achievements of this remarkable Graduating class. This is part of our history and is very special for our entire Bosco Community. In the early years, we had many hopes and dreams for our students and one of these dreams is now coming to fruition with our first Year 12 students graduating from the College. This can never be taken away from them, as our 83 Year 12 students are officially our very First Year 12 Graduates.”

Speaking at the Graduation, prefects Oliver and Isabelle said:

“We are the first group to have grown through every stage of this community — from the early days of Year 7, right through to this moment. In many ways, our story is also the story of the college itself: a story of growth, of finding identity, and of learning what it means to belong.”

“We were there for the first assemblies, the first fundraisers, the first exams, and even the first times things didn’t quite go to plan. But every challenge taught us something — about resilience, about teamwork, and about how much stronger we are when we face things together. We’ve watched the college grow around us — new buildings, new teachers, new faces — and as it changed, so did we.

“To the Class of 2025 — we are the first to graduate from this College, but we will not be the last. The path we’ve paved will guide many others who follow, and that is something truly special.”

They went on to say:

“To Mr Sheehy – Thank you for your belief in us, for your presence at every assembly, and for the countless moments — big and small — where you reminded us that we were part of something bigger than ourselves. Your impact will continue to shape the College for years to come, and your legacy lives in every student who walks through these gates.

“As we prepare to go our separate ways — whether that’s university, work, travel, or something completely new — let’s remember what we’ve built here. We’ve shown what it means to lead with courage, kindness, and respect. We’ve learned that success isn’t just about achievement, but about the way we treat others along the way.”
