St Denis student knows his ABCs

St Denis School student, Emmanuel certainly knows his ABCs and is putting them to good use by taking part in the 2025 Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee.

In the state finals Emmanuel took part in WA Green Level (Years 3-4) getting 30/30 in 1:56.909. That saw him qualify for national finals.

Emmanuel said:
“Good spelling is important for writing stories and reading books.”

Asked what he enjoyed about the competition, he replied:
“The lady reading out the words was easy to understand and as soon as the test is finished, it shows your score.”

As for how he practiced for the competition, Emmanuel said:
“I used ChatGPT to generate a list of words for me to practice.”

The Spelling Bee is open to all students studying in Years 3-8. The Bee is an online-only competition. It is a school-based activity, to be undertaken with teacher supervision, in test-style conditions.

Winners of the national final will be announced on Friday 19 September 2025.
