St Damien’s Catholic Primary School Choir reach new heights

It’s been an incredible year for the St Damien’s Catholic Primary School choir, and they’re thrilled to share their outstanding achievements! Under the expert guidance of their dedicated conductor, Mrs. Majella Burns the choir has worked tirelessly, and their hard work has paid off in the most beautiful way.

This year’s Sacramental Masses and school’s liturgical celebrations were truly special. The choir’s passion and dedication to their music were palpable, and their love for singing was evident in every note they sang. Their performances not only enhanced the spiritual experience of our Sacramental Masses but also brought the community together in a shared celebration of faith and music.

The school is incredibly proud of the choir members, who range from year 4 to year 6, for their commitment to excellence in the wider community competitions also. The school choir has won many accolades, notably State champions as the Yoh Fest cover song winner, Tote Bag Art Design winner and Act Belong Commit advertising reels winners.

St Damien’s Choir has taken out these achievements three years in a row!

Recently, the choir also won the CEWA Logo Jingle award which allowed them to visit a professional studio in Perth to record the jingle. So keep your ears open for their musical brilliance wherever the CEWA jingle may be used.

The local Mandurah community have also enjoyed performances from the choir. They include Mandurah Aged Care visit, launching the local new Community Centre in Dawesville, Grandparents Day and NAIDOC Week choir Performances with George Walley, a local Elder and Anzac Day choir Performances. The Choirs achievements are a testament to the power of teamwork, discipline, and a shared passion for music.

It’s been a year filled with music, joy, and spiritual

growth! The whole school is looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these talented young musicians and their teacher.

“Mrs Burns has taught me to express my feelings and to not be afraid of standing up on stage and singing. I think she is an amazing music teacher and I will always cherish the moments with her. Three years has gone past so quickly and as year 6s, we will always remember the moments spent with her,” said Tyler and Savannah, both Year 6.

“Mrs Burns has given us the opportunity to sparkle and shine on the stage. She encourages us to be the best we can be,” said Edie and Phoebe, also Year 6.
