Quality Catholic Education Awards honour very best in schools

The very best of Catholic education in WA has been celebrated with the annual Quality Catholic Education (QCE) Awards held as part of the annual staff breakfast at Optus Stadium on Monday 27 October.

A total of 111 projects were nominated across Primary and Secondary categories in Catholic Identity, Community, Education, and Stewardship. There was also an award for Student-led Initiatives in Primary and Secondary.

Primary Winners

Catholic Identity: St Joseph’s School in Boulder for We are “One Body – Though Many Parts”

Community: St Simon Peter Catholic Primary School in Ocean Reef for Parents Connect (Parents of students with a disability)

Education: Christ the King Catholic School in Djarindjin Lombadina for Translanguaging through Conceptual PlayWorlds

Stewardship: Liwara Catholic Primary School in Greenwood for Green Footprints: Building a sustainable community with faith and purpose

Student-Led: St Denis School in Joondanna for Co-designed Breakout Space for Neurodiverse Studentsv

Secondary Winners

Catholic Identity: Irene McCormack Catholic College in Butler for Charism in Action: Inspiring Staff and Students Through the Josephite Story

Community: Prendiville Catholic College in Ocean Reef for Kind Hearts at Prendiville

Education: Emmanuel Catholic College in Success for LearnTogether

Student-Led: Seton Catholic College in Samson for Student Voice Redefining the Leaver’s Experience

St Joseph’s School in Pemberton for Canteen Able and St John Bosco College in Piara Waters for ‘Our ANZAC Connection’ Connecting our community to the ANZACs at a deeper level.

Education
Sacred Heart Primary School in Highgate and St Mary’s Primary School in Kalgoorlie for Digging Deep: building futures through place and partnership, and Mater Dei College in Edggewater for Big Steps,

Stewardship
St Pius X Catholic School in Manning for SPX Sustainability ‘Swap’ Events – Laudato Si in Action!

Student-Led
St Joseph’s School in Boulder for We are “One Body – Though Many Parts” and jointly by Irene McCormack Catholic College and St Francis of Assisi Primary School in Butler for Combined Stations of the Cross.

This year’s People’s Choice Award went to Trinity College for Small Tabs, Big Impact – Learning to be Men for Others Inspired by Brother Olly Pickett. Whilst Sacred Heart Primary School in Thornlie won a Merit Award for ‘Walk to School with Luna’.

More than 6,000 votes were received for this year’s People’s Choice Awards.

Speaking at the Awards CEWA’s Executive Director, Annette Morey said:

“The level of enthusiasm shown for the QCE Awards is a testament to the health of school communities led by faith-filled Principals and supported by passionate teachers and support staff with highly engaged parent communities. I am proud to lead a system which demonstrates every day the values which make Catholic schools the schools of choice for so many families.”
