Online learning success for CEWA Staff

07 June 2019

A series of virtual training sessions last month brought 150 Catholic Education Western Australia staff from across the State together to learn and discuss a range of topics in seven different streams.

Both teaching and non-teaching staff from regional offices and 32 schools participated in Webinar Week, logging in from Western Australia’s four diocese’ of Perth, Bunbury, Geraldton and Broome.

The webinars were presented by CEWA staff and topics included Beginners Guide to Planner, Inspiring Christ-Centred Leaders and Supporting Students with Complex Communication Needs.

“I really like the format of a fellow professional sharing his/her use of the application,” a participant in My Favourite OneNote Features said.

Regardless of what subject or the age of the children you teach, there is always something you can take away from the experience… even if it is to motivate you to investigate further.

Digital Transformation Consultant Maggie Tiongson said the Term 2 program had been a huge success, almost doubling the number of participants.

“We had 150 people tune in for 28 sessions and after two weeks we had 308 views of the recorded sessions,” she said.

“Compared to Term 1 where we had 78 live participants and 197 views this was a massive increase and very encouraging for the rest of the year.”

Ms Tiongson said next term they hope to add more channels and broaden the range of topics to meet the diverse needs of CEWA staff.

Webinar Week in Term 3 will be held in week 3, from 5-8 August 3:30pm-4:15pm, while in Term 4 an entire day will be dedicated to online learning with a Virtual Conference Day planned for Tuesday 17 December.
