JPC students reach YOH Fest grand final

The depth of talent on hand at Kalgoorlie’s John Paul College has earned the school two grand final entries at the prestigious YOH Fest.
YOH Fest is a health-themed youth performing and visual arts festival that involves schools from across the State.
The annual event requires students to construct and perform their own dance sequence, drama, musical composition, short film or art piece on a relevant youth health theme.
Goldfields Arts Centre kicked off the regional heats in August, with JPC entries, “Stolen” (Dance) and “Through Jesus, Land, Spirit And Hope, We Can Belong” (Film) subsequently advancing to the finale.
The festival is the only one of its kind in Australia and involves thousands of young people throughout the State performing in some of the best regional venues to big audiences.
Participating students gain skills, self-confidence and respect for others, as well as understanding of relevant youth issues.
The grand final program at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre runs from October 21-26.
