09 November 2017

On Friday, 8th September Irene McCormack Catholic College students from Years 10 and 11 were rattling and shaking donation buckets for over three hours along Ocean Keys Boulevard in Clarkson, together with thousands of volunteers right across the nation, in the annual Vinnies Street Appeal.

The Appeal is a fundraising initiative which supports St Vincent de Paul’s Emergency Relief Program, addressing the needs of people at risk of homelessness through the provision of food, clothing, furniture and bedding, help with utility bills and rent, friendship, advocacy and referrals. Miss Cherie Milne, IMCC’s Service Learning Coordinator said “Our students were great ambassadors for the college as they interacted with the public and spread awareness of this worthy cause.”

The fundraiser continued at the college, with a small group of enthusiastic Year 7 students collecting during lunch breaks, with a total of $516.70 raised for the 2017 Vinnies Street Appeal.
