St Anthony’s School in Wanneroo marked a major milestone earlier this year, proudly celebrating their 90th anniversary, bringing together past and present families, staff, and friends.
The day began with a beautiful whole school Mass, setting the tone for a celebration filled with gratitude and community spirit.
After Mass, guests enjoyed reconnecting, sharing stories, and exploring photo boards that showcased the school’s journey from humble beginnings at the original school grounds in 1935 to the vibrant campus the school is today.
The school was delighted to have St Anthony’s school alumni currently attending Mater Dei College assisting with the celebrations, adding a special touch to the day.
The day was a great opportunity for the school to honour its heritage and celebrate the community spirit that makes St Anthony’s so special.
Principal, Therese Bandy said:
“90 years ago, St Anthony’s School, Wanneroo, had an enrolment of 35 students. Across the years the school has moved from the original site on Wanneroo Road and grown to a student population of 455 with ages ranging from 3 year old Kindy to Year 6.
“Originally staffed by three dedicated Sisters of Mercy we now have 49 members of staff.
“From a school built to bring education to the Italian and Yugoslav families of the area our flag wall outside the Library acknowledges approximately 60 different nationalities whose children are or have passed through our walls.
“May we continue to be the light that shows God’s love to all whom we meet and welcome within our walls, our rooms and under our verandahs.”
