Happy 100th to St Pat’s Katanning!

St Patrick’s School in Katanning has marked a hundred years of providing local families with a quality, Catholic education.

The school hosted an all-day centenary celebration on 14 March, including a commemorative Mass, formal presentations, and an open tour through the school’s heritage-listed buildings, concluding the day with a sundowner. Bishop of Bunbury, The Most Reverend George Kolodziej SDS, joined the school community to help the celebrations.

The day not only gave the public an insight into the school’s history with access to old classrooms, the former convent and boarding school, and church but was also a chance for old friends to reconnect and share memories of the school community.

Displays were placed around the grounds showcasing photographs, memorabilia and stories from the past century.

Principal, Brett Wilkie said:
“It’s a very special day for our beloved little school. We were excited to welcome hundreds of past and present students, staff and families and to reminisce and share stories of St Pat’s.”

Founded in 1926 as St Rita’s by the Sisters of Our Lady of the Mission, the school was originally based in St Patrick’s Church with 47 pupils. Today over 100 pupils are educated at the school.
