Bunbury’s newest Bishop was ordained and installed at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Wednesday 19 March 2025.
CEWA’s Executive Director Wayne Bull, Deputy Executive Director Annette Morey, Director Religious Education, Mark Powell and other members of the Catholic Education Office attended the ordination of The Most Rev George Kolodziej SDS as the Fifth Bishop of Bunbury at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
The Most Rev Kolozdiej previously served as Catholic Education Office Chaplain from 2019-2024. He also served the parish of Greenmount and Chisholm Catholic College.
Principals and students from Catholic schools in the Bunbury Diocese were also in attendance.
Mr Bull said:
“I was privileged to join the congregation, alongside Principals, students from each of the schools in the Diocese, and my Catholic Education Office colleagues, to celebrate the ordination of Bishop George.
“I have known Bishop George for many years, both personally and professionally, and I have no doubt that he will lead the Dioceses of Bunbury, including its Catholic schools, with compassion and warmth.
“I wish him well and look forward to welcoming him back to the Catholic Education Office in his new role.”
Twenty-eight Catholic schools operate in the Diocese of Bunbury. The Diocese of Bunbury, which covers the south-western parts of Western Australia, spans an area one and half times that of England.
