Each activity, curated by staff from CEWA and Modern Teaching Aids, was thoughtfully designed to align with CEWA’s STEM Skills Framework and incorporated essential 21st-century learning principles, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, innovation, and appreciation.
Rebecca Laird, Digital Learning Consultant at CEWA, praised the enthusiasm of the participants.
“Today was an energising experience for everyone. It was amazing to see so many students showing persistence and determination as they worked through challenges with students they had never met before – all with big smiles and kind hearts,” she said.
Teachers also applauded the initiative. Jacinta Tucker of Mary’s Mount Primary School said:
“Our students were encouraged to think critically and innovate as they participated in a variety of challenges. A highlight was seeing both staff and students collaborating, networking, and forming new connections.”
Michael Sheridan, Assistant Principal at St Michael’s School, highlighted the learning benefits. “It was a fantastic opportunity to build curiosity, creativity, and teamwork in a dynamic environment. Thank you to everyone involved for making the day a success.”
The event not only achieved its objectives but also left a lasting and meaningful impression on both students and educators alike with calls from students like Deone from St Michael’s – “We should have more days like the CEWA STEM Challenge Day!”
