Catholic Education WA is placing the student voice at the heart of decision making with the establishment of a new Student Advisory Council at system level.
The CEWA Student Advisory Council will consist of 20 Catholic School Students from across Western Australia, with the purpose of informing and shaping Catholic education, in consultation with the Council Chair, the Deputy Executive Director.
Members of the Student Advisory Council will identify key priorities for students, opportunities for system growth and also advocate for student needs.
The announcement comes as Mrs Annette Morey begins her tenure as CEWA’s Executive Director. Mrs Morey was appointed Executive Director by the Bishops of Western Australia earlier in the year and commenced her role earlier this month.
Mrs Morey said:
“The greatest advocates for the power of an innovative and contemporary education system are our 83,000 students.
“I am strongly committed to elevating the student voice within our system and look forward to working with CEWA’s new Student Advisory Council, to understand where our young people’s priorities lie and how we can ensure CEWA continues to meet their needs.”
