Chisholm alumna a rising star at The Pulse Exhibition

Chisholm Catholic College is proudly celebrating the outstanding success of former student, Angel Papalazaros, whose captivating painting ‘Hellenic Habitat’ has taken centre stage at this year’s prestigious Pulse Exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

Angel’s two-part oil painting is a vibrant and witty tribute to her Greek heritage, inspired by a family trip to Greece and the legacy of her immigrant grandparents.

Blending classical elements with suburban Australian life, ‘Hellenic Habitat’ features Ancient Greek statues engaging in domestic scenes – a reflection on cultural identity and gender roles across generations.

Angel’s work was recently highlighted in The West Australian, with journalist Simon Collins describing her art as both grand and deeply personal. Her unique mix of figurative and impressionist styles drew praise for its originality and emotional depth, and it has even attracted interest from potential buyers – though the young artist is hesitant to part with her masterpiece just yet.

Jason Auld, Head of Creative Design and Technology at Chisholm said:

“Congratulations, Angel – your success is a testament to your talent, heritage and hard work.”

Inspired by past Pulse artists, Angel now becomes a source of inspiration herself – proving to Chisholm’s current Visual Arts students that bold, authentic storytelling through art can truly make an impact.
