Catholic education student wins national award at 2017 Australian Power of Speech event

Year 4 student of St Pius X Catholic Primary School, Valarie Kwik, was one of two children chosen to represent Telethon Speech and Hearing, and the state of Western Australia, at the national Power of Speech on Tuesday, 21 March at Government House in Canberra. Valarie impressed the judges with her speech entitled ‘Money, money, money’ and won her category.
Valarie worked very diligently on her speech, in which she discussed the different Australian animals shown on our coins, and shared some interesting facts about their hearing. She did an amazing job speaking in front of a distinguished audience, which included our Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull.
Mrs Horton and Mrs Eder of St Pius X are very proud of their student Valarie, saying she was “very calm and spoke beautifully… What an incredible achievement and inspiration to all of us. Well done Valarie, we are very proud of you!”
