After a long and dedicated effort, St Joseph’s School in Moora has reopened and blessed a newly renovated library.
The incredible learning space aligns beautifully with three pillars of CEWA’s Quality Catholic Education pillars with the school preserving the original crucifix and introducing a new, brightly coloured one which was blessed during the opening (Catholic Identity); the space will be utilised by the entire school community (Education) and addressed the necessary infrastructure repairs (Stewardship).
The floods of 1999 had compromised the structural integrity of the footings, necessitating extensive repairs.
Following numerous engineer visits, a lengthy drying process, and an insurance claim, the school’s Library and part of the Office block have been refooted, refloored, repainted, restocked, and refurbished.
Best of all it’s got the stamp of approval from students and staff alike. Hamish likes the soft new furniture whilst Harper likes the space in the room and Year 4 thought the school had doubled the size of the library.
“We didn’t! We just used the space in more beneficial ways,” said Principal, Kaye Savage-Morton.
“Our library looks like a garden full of books,” said Leila (Year 6)
Josh (Year 1) said the library was ‘amazing’ and Xander added ‘this is marvellous’.
Walking into the new library Thomas had his ‘MIND BLOWN’, Noah called it ‘a new future for St Joseph’s’, and Euphy just thinks it’s great!
St Joseph’s Head Boy, Will summed up the feeling, calling the library “a haven for imagination”.
