During the week of 27 May to 3 June, Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) took part in a number of events for National Reconciliation Week 2017, providing an opportunity to focus on reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

The National Sorry Day event held at Wellington Square in East Perth on 26 May marked the 20^th Anniversary since the Bringing Them Home report was tabled in the Australian parliament.

A large gathering of CEWA staff, students and community members took place in Wellington Square, where we came together to share in what has grown to be the biggest National Sorry Day event in Australia.

In what was once again a great turnout for the event, with plenty of interactive activities, displays and food stalls, attendees enjoyed an incredible performance by singer-songwriter Archie Roach.

The CEWA office also shared in activities to acknowledge our site, built on the land of the native Whadjuk Noongar people. On Wednesday 31 May, CEWA Leederville office staff members took part in an Acknowledgement of Country lead by Noongar Elder and Professor Len Collard, followed by a walk to the Eucalyptus tree planted in the garden in recognition of the 2008 national apology.
