People’s Choice added to LEAD Awards

26 July 2019

For the first time a People’s Choice Award category has been added to CEWA’s annual LEAD Awards for Excellence.

Catholic schools across WA are now waiting to find out who has won the LEAD Awards for 2019 – with winners set to receive $4000 towards the further development of their LEAD Awards initiatives.

Voting for the People’s Choice competition is open now via the CEWA Facebook page, with the nominated project with the most likes and shares taking out a prize of $2000.

The 2019 Awards received a record 55 nominations across the four categories of Learning, Engagement, Accountability and Discipleship, up from 47 in 2018 and 30 in 2017.

Judging Chair and CEWA School Improvement Advisor Michael Ciccarelli said this year’s nominees had shown commitment to providing Christ-centred and engaged learning environments not only for students, but for staff as well.

“It was also particularly pleasing to see the ongoing impact and outcomes of some of the nominated programs and initiatives,” he said.

The 2019 judging panel included Notre Dame University Dean of Law, Professor Joan Squelch, and Associate Dean School of Education, Dr Anne Coffey, along with CEWA Consultant Religious Education Sandra Peterson and School Support Consultant Nick Smith.

CEWA Principals will vote for the additional Leaders Choice Award at the Catholic Education Leaders Forum on Monday 29 July, and the LEAD Awards for Excellence will be presented at the Catholic Education Staff Breakfast on Thursday 8 August.
