Maths magic impresses students at St Jude’s

Students from St Jude’s Catholic Primary School in Langford took part in a special program of events for National Mathematics Day (Part of National Science Week) this year. 

The School celebrated Maths Day over three sessions, with Year 1-6 students taking part in more than 15 activities covering a wide range of mathematical concepts and problem solving, including measurement, patterns, classifying and coding. 

The event proved a big hit, with students captivated by a Mind Reader mathematical magic trick, before being guided through a range of activities.

Among the more challenging tasks included a three-dimensional Soma cube puzzle, three-dimensional shape puzzle, Tower of Hanoi Challenge and Chain Gang partner challenge.

Tasks included a giant quicksand mapping task, an assortment of measurement activities and BeeBot in outer space coding challenge, among others.
