Kolbe students tackle multi-discipline event 

After weeks of training and mental preparation, Year 11 Physical Education Studies students from Kolbe Catholic College successfully completed the Fremantle Triathlon. 

Held during Term One, the triathlon consisted of a 250m swim, 9km cycle and 2.5km run. 

The students spent the first seven weeks of term learning the ins and outs of what it takes to be a triathlete, preparing for the three disciplinesswimming, cycling and running by taking part in theory and practical lessons.

They also learnt about importance of nutrition for the sport as well as learning the rules and tactics required to compete.  

Physical Education Studies Teacher David Walker said the individual achievements were something the students should be proud of. 

We certainly saw what this group of students were made of on the day,” he said. 

“As a group, it proved a great bonding exercise with peer support and high-fives aplenty – they really embraced the opportunity”.
