Creative talent and artistic flair of students comes to the fore through Catholic Arts program of events
Beginning in July and running into September, the Catholic Arts program of events showcased the rich creativity and talent of students from across the CEWA system.
The Performing Arts Festival for Catholic Schools and Colleges began with a Mass held at Infant Jesus Parish Morley in July.
Over the course of the next two months more than 25,000 students (about one-third of all students at CEWA schools) took part in a wide variety of performances including drama, dance, as well as choral, instrumental and contemporary musical pieces.
The Festival's grand finale was a concert at the Perth Concert Hall on 12 September.
The Angelico Exhibition is another annual highlight in the Catholic Education WA calendar, and the Most Reverend Bishop Don Sproxton opened the exhibition for its 23rd year on 16 August at Forrest Centre in the Perth CBD.
Students from 24 CEWA schools, from as far north as Broome and as far south as Albany contributed 132 pieces, with stunning work submitted in drawing, general two-dimensional and general three-dimensional categories.
Wrapping up Catholic Arts' program on September 12, along with the Performing Arts Festival Final Concert, was the Catholic Education Carnevale. Carnevale this year brought a vibrant selection of student performing arts, music, dance and fashion into the public eye in Perth's Forrest Place.
