CECWA scholarships support professional development for staff

27 September 2019

Each year the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) supports CEWA staff to further their qualifications by providing scholarships that help cover the costs of tertiary education and other professional development.

CEWA Leadership Consultant Daniel Groenewald recently graduated from Notre Dame University’s Graduate Certificate in Catholic Leadership.

He undertook the course to enhance his knowledge of Catholic approaches to topics such as leading change, developing highperforming teams, Christ-centred leadership and managing challenging circumstances.

“I found the course, particularly the discussion of Catholic Social Teaching, really useful in my role as a Leadership Consultant,” Mr Groenewald said.

In the course assessment, for instance, I was able to plan new approaches to the leadership curriculum that I had not thought of before.

Mr Groenewald said the course would be useful to leaders across any Catholic organisation.

Applications for the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia 2020 Scholarship Program close on Friday 11 October.

The following scholarships are available for 2020:

* Professional Development Scholarship for Teachers

* Professional Development Scholarship for Non-Teachers

* Graduate Certificate in Catholic Leadership Scholarship

Applicants must currently be working in CEWA and plan to continue throughout 2020.

They must also have at least two years’ experience in Catholic Education of Western Australia.
